Dr. Kam's paper about 2020/21 Iran drought is published in Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society (JIF: 9.116 and Rank: 6/94 (Meteorology & Atmospheric Sciences)).
This work assessed the relative contribution of greenhouse gas-only and natural-only forcing to the risk of 2020/21-like Iran droughts, using the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6).
Shahid's master study on center timing of streamflow in Pakistan was accepted in Journal of Hydrology. He investigated past and future changes of timing of streamflow over Pakistan using observed daily streamflow records and bias-corrected regional climate projections (1962-2099). Eunmi Lee won the first place award with three million won (US$ 2,300) from the 2022 POSTECH OIBC CHALLENGE - 태양광 발전량 예측 경진 대회. She is a participant with two POSTECH team members. This competition mission is to predict the next 24-hour power generation at a new Solar Power Plant at Gwang Myeong using the past two-year data from 20 adjacent solar power plants.
Anqi Liu won the Excellence Award for her oral presentation at the 2022 Smart Water Grid International Conference (Nov. 22-23, 2022). Her presentation title was "What matters when the public report water pollution complaints?"
Dr. Yulizar left our group on November 30, 2022. He had been working on trends of unusual temperature events in Germany and their associations with climatic indices. Wish him the best of luck on his next journey.

Our paper about the sub-seasonal prediction skill for recent multi-year Korea droughts was accepted for publication in Asian-Pacific Journal of Atmospheric Sciences.
This study assessed the prediction skill of precipitation anomalies from multiple SubX models during the recent multi-year droughts over the Korean Peninsula. The assessment for predictive performance of the SubX models was conducted via multiple verification metrics. This article is an open-assess article.
Dr. Park is the first author of this paper who did most of the analyses presented in this study.
Ms. So Jeahyang (Jae) from Global Water Partnership gave a seminar about Integrated Water Resources Managements (IWRM) at POSTECH.
She is currently the Chair of the TEC (Technical Committee) of the Global Water Partnership, a global action network with over 3,000 partner organizations in 179 countries. She worked for thirty years at the World Bank Group on a range of development topics, from infrastructure, water, urban development, gender, and public private partnerships. In 2017, she was awarded the Republic of Korea Prime Minister Citation for the Promotion of Gender Equality.

Dr. Park's recent work on Self-Calibrating Effective Drought Index (scEDI) was accepted in Journal of Hydrology (JIF: 6.7; 13/200 in Geosciences, Multidisciplinary). This paper was to investigate the impact of temporally self-calibrating on Effective Drought Index and compare the scEDI-based drought detection and associated social impacts from the drought reports from Annals of Joseon Dynasty and the online information search activity volume data from Google Trends and NAVER DataLab. <click>
This study provided an insight for "social" drought impact assessment, the least understood drought type. Prof. Hi-Ryong Byun and Dr. Do-Woo Kim are co-authors of this paper. Prof. Byun invented Effective Drought Index, a daily-based meteorological drought index.

Shahid Ali defensed his M.S.E. thesis successfully. His study about past and future changes in streamflow timing over Pakistan led to one manuscript in review.

This work focused on understanding how anthropogenic influences affect the record-breaking warm and wet winter 2019/20 over northwest Russia, using the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6).
Dr. Yulizar joins our research group. Before coming to POSTECH, he was a lecturer at Universitas Pertamina, Jakarta, Indonesia. He was conferred M.Sc. and Dr.-ing by University of Stuttgart, Germany.
Dr. Kam's paper is published in Risk, Hazards, & Crisis in Public Policy. The title of the paper is "Public awareness and perceptions of drought: A case study of two cities of Alabama". This paper is based on a case study of two cities that investigated how the public responds to drought through surveys.
